Claude Desktop Setup

Claude Desktop is the fastest way to start using Vibesites. Add one URL as a connector and you can build websites immediately.

Need an API key first?

Get your API key from your Vibesites account settings.

Step 1: Open Settings

In Claude Desktop, click the gear icon in the bottom-left corner, or use the menu: Claude → Settings.

Step 2: Go to Connectors

In the Settings panel, click the Connectors tab. This is where you manage MCP integrations.

Step 3: Add Vibesites

Click Add custom connector and paste your MCP URL:

https://vibesites.dev/api/mcp?key=vibe_live_YOUR_KEY

Replace vibe_live_YOUR_KEY with your actual API key from the settings page.

Step 4: Verify

Start a new conversation and ask Claude:

Test prompt
"What Vibesites tools do you have?"

Claude should list 24 tools including vibesites_create_site, vibesites_write_file, and vibesites_publish.

Ready to build

Try: "Create a landing page for my photography business in Austin, TX." Claude will ask 5 clarifying questions, then build and publish your site.

Available tools

Once connected, Claude has access to 24 MCP tools organized in 6 categories:

  • Site Management — create, list, get, delete, clone, migrate sites
  • File Operations — read, write, batch-write, list, delete files
  • Assets & Images — upload, list assets, search stock photos
  • Publishing — publish, check site, rollback, view history
  • SEO & Forms — SEO audit, add forms, view submissions, update settings
  • Domains & DNS — set custom domain, check DNS

Troubleshooting

  • Claude doesn't see the tools? Make sure the URL is correct and includes your full API key. Try removing and re-adding the connector.
  • Authentication error? Your API key may have been rotated. Check API Keys for the current key.
  • Tools work but site doesn't appear? Check your plan limits. Free accounts can create up to 3 sites.
